										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The last time I wrote about the Internet of Things, I hoped for an application layer that could sense and collect data and convert it into use cases. In fact, the title of the post was <a href="https://manuscrypts.com/2014/12/31/an-interweb-of-things/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Interweb of Things</a>, the nuanced difference between them being connection (IoT) and interoperability. (WoT) (<a href="https://manuscrypts.com/2014/04/08/an-internet-of-things-narrative/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">read</a>) In the few months since that post, there has been quite some activity in the space. I saw a very useful classification a few days ago that illustrated both the &#8216;things&#8217; as well as the infrastructure and showed the possibilities of interoperability. (<em><a href="http://battellemedia.com/archives/2015/02/remember-internet-considering-things.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">via</a></em>)</p>
<p><a href="http://battellemedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/iot-tectonics-center-electric.png" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-10247" src="https://manuscrypts.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/IoT-1024x573.jpg" alt="IoT" width="600" height="336" /></a></p>
<p><span id="more-10097"></span>Google&#8217;s presence in the graphic above is only an indication of its <a href="http://www.techrepublic.com/article/breaking-down-googles-strategy-for-the-internet-of-things/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IoT strategy</a>, and I&#8217;d think that Android might be a great thread to connect it all together in the short run. Two words &#8211; Google Now. There&#8217;s been a lot of talk recently about Google losing its prime position. (<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/12/technology/personaltech/googles-time-at-the-top-may-be-nearing-its-end.html?_r=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">example</a>) Stagnating search advertising growth, Facebook&#8217;s strong showing in mobile advertising, Apple&#8217;s profitability from devices etc being the reasons. I am wondering if IoT will be a key to Google&#8217;s renaissance. (along with AI) Our interactions with the connected devices will result in a treasure trove of <a href="http://adage.com/article/digitalnext/intimate-data-key-internet-things/297005/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8216;intimate&#8217; data</a> that can be used for some excellent targeted advertising. Given its play in multiple verticals, Google will be in a great place to access the data. Arguably Glass was their big play at hardware beyond mobile. In any case, that didn&#8217;t seem to work. Yet. But with Nest, Dropcam and <a href="http://venturebeat.com/2015/03/06/patent-details-googles-ideas-for-smart-home-doorknobs-doorbells-wall-switches-and-more/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">beyond</a> (check out the patents including a smart doorknob!) Google does have quite some ammunition.</p>
<p>Samsung states that by 2020 all of the devices it sells will be connected to the IoT. For now, SmartThings, their recent acquisition, will serve as the connection between devices. (<a href="http://www.theverge.com/2015/1/5/7497537/samsung-iot-internet-of-things-vision-presented-at-ces-2015-keynote" target="_blank" rel="noopener">via</a>) Apple, with HomeKit, is poised to become a key player as well. Quite possible that the combination of Apple Watch, Beacons and Apple Pay will bring in a completely new play on IoT. Even Amazon&#8217;s Echo is in the game. (<a href="http://adage.com/article/digitalnext/brands-love-amazon-echo/297230/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">read</a>)</p>
<p>In the near and medium time frame, one of the things that I think will play a key role in converting the IoT into a WoT is the mobile device, mostly thanks to them being the common interface. The guys whom I&#8217;ve seen doing a great job with that right now is Xiaomi. The entire strategy seems to be use the very economical smartphone as the central device in their IoT plans. Recently they released a Smart Home Suite with four components &#8211;  a human motion sensor, a couple of door and window sensors and a wireless switching device for controlling appliances. They already have a connected air purifier and a bulb. (<a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-01-18/xiaomi-unveils-smart-home-suite-with-security-features" target="_blank" rel="noopener">via</a>) TVs and water purifiers are on their way. [Incidentally, they are <a href="http://venturebeat.com/2014/12/30/10-chinese-internet-of-things-startups-to-watch-in-2015/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">not the only Chinese brands</a> in the IoT game]</p>
<p>As is evident, there are many companies creating their own navigation paths in the IoT ecosystem. Hardware, software, infrastructure, services, consumer identities and how it can all be made to work together. To me, this is looking to be a play even more significant than the web was. That makes it a very interesting battle indeed.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">There was a <a href="http://www.misentropy.com/2011/11/the-machine-code-of-story-telling.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">superb post at Misentropy</a> last week on story-telling that opened up new perspectives for me on that art, and science, especially the last few lines on subliminal commands that could set or reset a new memory episode in our minds.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The coincidence in the timing was excellent, because it is related to a subject that has occupied my thoughts for a while now &#8211; brand stories in recent times. Notwithstanding recent splurges, a Google or Apple or even an Angry Birds has not really built a brand on advertising. On any given day, there are hundreds if not thousands of websites and blogs which compete among themselves to ensure they get the latest dope on these companies first.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">For a while, I thought that this was largely due to the inherent domain association. Of the internet/mobile and therefore covered on the internet/mobile. But that&#8217;s not really true &#8211; Lady Gaga or Bieber or The Dark Knight Rises (check out Misentropy&#8217;s curated fan creations &#8211; <a href="http://batmania.misentropy.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Batmania</a>) are not tech, they are popular culture, and yet they have all successfully built brand stories (also) using the internet to great effect. Are all music bands or movies operating at that level? Not. The only commonality I could notice was the &#8216;product is marketing&#8217; (yes, even Bieber or Kim Kardashian actually belong here) credo, by design or not.  The product in this case need not (and is usually not) even be the core domain they&#8217;re operating in, it&#8217;s usually a core differentiator &#8211; in Gaga&#8217;s case, shock. I have no clue on Bieber, and Kim Kard&#8217;s sticks way out of the purview of this blog!</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">But despite the above, and exceptions, I also wondered whether brands of an earlier era were at a disadvantage because they operated not only in domains that had become commodities, but also operated within frameworks that made their activities templates. Not just from a planning perspective, but from communication platforms as well.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Thanks (also) to my weekly web wrap <a style="text-align: -webkit-auto;" href="http://www.manuprasad.com/blog/category/bangalore-mirror-column/weekly-top-5/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">column</a>, I noticed one interesting example of a brand that could weave its story into my life&#8217;s context &#8211; apparently <a href="http://adage.com/article/special-report-marketer-alist/marketer-a-list-samsung-s-bet-paying/230835" target="_blank" rel="noopener">by design</a>. For 8 years, the Samsung TV and I have been staring at each other without getting into a relationship. But for the last few weeks, I&#8217;ve been scanning websites to check out the release of the Galaxy Nexus phone in India. The only other alternative I have in mind &#8211; the Galaxy S2. Samsung has piggybacked on Android to enter my life. However, just as <a href="http://www.technologyreview.in/blog/mimssbits/27101/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">this article</a> states (about Samsung in the context of the Internet of Things), I&#8217;d say that Samsung has missed an opportunity in this regard. (though its <a href="http://www.samsung.com/us/samsungnation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Samsung Nation</a> gamification based loyalty program looks interesting) The simple test being that I wouldn&#8217;t blink before changing my preferences if a different Android maker offered me a better product. But would I try a different OS family? Not a chance. Because, dessert name versions and all, Android is a story for me now.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">So, simplistically, I see two gateways to story telling &#8211; it&#8217;s either the story or the telling. In the first case, the product is so different that it leads the story, and in the second, the product might be a commodity, but the telling is such that it creates a story. Classic examples for the latter are &#8216;Will it Blend?&#8217; and &#8216;The Old Spice Man&#8217;, episodic thought they might seem. Depending on its domain and competitive landscape, each brand would have to decide its focus and build the relevant skill set. The tools are more than ever before, as always, it&#8217;s how they are used. That story hasn&#8217;t changed.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">The confluence of web and TV has been a topic of discussion for quite sometime now. The <a href="http://www.msntv.com/pc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">initial version</a> of Web TV- with a set top box and keyboard, <a href="http://technologizer.com/2009/02/13/the-internet-on-your-tv-finally-ready-for-prime-time/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">didn&#8217;t work out well</a>, but that hasn&#8217;t stopped the next generation from making attempts, and with all the components required for access built into the TV now, things are showing some promise.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/01/07/yahoo-and-samsung-getting-widgety-together/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yahoo&#8217;s TV widgets</a>, with Flickr, news, finance etc integrated onscreen in Samsung TVs had created quite a stir at the CES 2009 event earlier this year. <a href="http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/jan2009/tc20090111_074874.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yahoo and Intel</a> have also co-developed a range of products that lets users access pages and tools while watching a program &#8211; around 20 widgets (scaled down versions) from the NYT to MySpace and Twitter. Yahoo will also release a toolkit for developers to make new content.Yahoo is not the only player here. Netflix has tied up with LG for a new line of broadband high-def TVs with Netflix built in to it. More on that  <a href="http://gigaom.com/2009/01/04/here-come-broadband-tvs/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">here</a>.  Verismo Networks has a PoD device &#8211; VuNow that can stream web content onto your TV without a PC or connections. (via <a href="http://www.bangaloreinc.com/2009/01/11/verismo-networks-bringing-the-web-to-your-tv-sets/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bangalore Inc</a>) On another front, there are gaming consoles and DVD players etc with built in broadband access abilities.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile, the convergence is happening on the reverse direction too. With the net becoming a competition to TV channels as a source of entertainment, the reverse is also happening as a lot of television content is now finding its way into the net, legally. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Comcast, Time Warner Cable etc are now entering the fray with a two fold objective &#8211; to take more content online, and make the TV experience more web like. Closer to home, <a href="http://www.pluggd.in/india-internet/tv-onlne-star-and-nautanki-partnership-3614/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Star TV had tied up with nautanki.tv</a> earlier this year to watch shows online. A couple of months back, the <a href="http://www.watblog.com/2009/03/13/zoom-audience-network-is-now-times-audience-network-adds-bigadda-as-content-partner/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Times Audience Network added Big Adda</a> as a video content partner. More about that <a href="http://www.medianama.com/2009/03/223-times-audience-network-to-open-up-its-api-video-ad-inventory-has-to-be-sold-by-the-publisher/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">here</a>. Hmm, Bigflix + Big Adda?</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">It is also interesting to see web based entities going beyond their current territories. Portals, like <a href="http://www.alootechie.com/content/sulekhacom-launches-sulekha-tv-south-asians-living-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sulekha creating Web TV</a>. Internet video site <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123681820436902703.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hulu getting into social networking</a>. Will expand on that in a bit.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile, television content (shows) have started using social media to add a layer to their interactivity. MTV recently announced plans to launch a show that will also include real-time conversations taken from Facebook and Twitter, allowing users to interact with the show as it airs.  Users will be able to upload videos (their favourites and even self generated ones) through a RockYou application.(via <a href="http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/04/28/mtv-turns-to-twitter-and-facebook-to-power-new-flagship-show/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TC</a>) Mad Men&#8217;s <a href="http://benkessler.com/2008/08/21/mad-men-on-twitter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tryst with Twitter</a>, though fan generated is also a case study.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">An interesting concept I came across on <a href="http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/03/18/delivery-agent-is-monetizing-product-placement-for-tv-networks/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TC</a> &#8211; <a href="http://www.deliveryagent.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Delivery Agent</a>, which helps TV networks make use of their content by being an online marketplace for products and merchandise that are seen on television shows. It pays the network a royalty for this. According to the TC article, they have gone step further by checking the index of products scheduled to appear on the show, before the show airs, and then approach the brands concerned to buy an ad package. It seems like a win-win-win concept. With even a partially enabled web on TV, this concept could be easily integrated and made into real time purchases. Absolutely measurable for brands. Imagine saans &#8211; bahu saris, wedding costumes and even office and casual wear that can be bought online. The Jassi look, or the more recent Ballika Vadhu look, anyone? <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f609.png" alt="😉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">TVLoop, which started out as a Facebook app that allowed users to have view TV show episodes on their profile , has now gotten itself a website of its own.If you comment on an episode of the show on TVLoop.com, TVLoop users on Facebook or any other social network can reply directly from their respective site. (via  <a href="http://mashable.com/2008/12/09/tvloop/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mashable</a>) The Hulu social network I mentioned earlier encourages Hulu users to connect with one another and share their video preferences. The new features are expected to help Hulu better track viewing preferences, which helps further target ads. It also helps monitor conversations around videos and therefore provides more data on viewer behaviour. In both cases, the key take out is collective feedback &#8211; on content, ads served etc. From tweaking storylines and characters to embedding products better, having conversations around them and making purchase decisions easier, there is tremendous potential.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Web on TV, TV on web, web TV and social networking, TV and social networking, at the end of it, the point is about content on demand- across platforms, a rapid increase in interactivity, and the potential to increase the relevance of a product/service to consumers and encourage purchase almost instantly.  In an era when vanilla product placements are <a href="http://adage.com/madisonandvine/article?article_id=136797" target="_blank" rel="noopener">becoming increasingly unpopular</a> with viewers, this content integration across platforms could be the kind of tonic that&#8217;s needed for a system that currently thrives on sponsored (and usually non related, random) advertising and  insipid product placements. From the other side, the web&#8217;s current major advertising mechanism &#8211; contextual advertising just got more content to play with, and this could spawn an entire new way of advertising.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">As for me, I&#8217;m waiting for the time when I can watch the YouTube videos, Flickr photos and Twitter updates and the TV news on the same screen, and then real time reality TV, when I use my Twitter handle to eliminate participants and generally decide their fate <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f609.png" alt="😉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:justify;">The new Samsung <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPvn_aK8ReA" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TVC</a>, starring Aamir Khan has been airing for sometime now, and I&#8217;m still trying to figure out exactly what it means. I&#8217;m okay with a brand aiming for the best, and looking out for cutting edge technology, but what&#8217;s with the tagline &#8211; &#8216;Next is what?&#8217; Is that a question to me? Are you trying to keep me guessing?</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">When I see AK jump in the last scene of the TVC, it is, to me, a leap of faith, something which I might be willing to take when its Nokia we&#8217;re talking about. But, at this point in time, Samsung has yet to prove to me, its technical superiority, its aesthetic sense or any of the other parameters like value for money that I consider when I make a mobile purchase decision. What Samsung has successfully communicated to me, with this TVC, is that they themselves are not sure what&#8217;s going to happen next, and maybe I should wait sometime before I pick up a Samsung handset.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">When a brand reaches the zenith in whatever category it is in, it is sometimes smart to ignore the #2 totally, and start positioning itself to be beyond all the mundane new feature/market share/pricing strategy/tactic that it might have resorted to in the past. But, how smart is it when you&#8217;re a distant <a href="http://www.telecomtiger.com/fullstory.aspx?storyid=1917&amp;passfrom=vasstory" target="_blank" rel="noopener">#3 in the market</a>? It  makes me wonder if brands also should follow a tweaked version of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow%27s_hierarchy_of_needs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Maslow&#8217;s hierarchy</a>, find out where they figure (in the consumer&#8217;s mind) and design communication accordingly. Yes, i agree that brand and people occupy multiple levels at the same time, but at least there would be some method in the communication madness.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">When I saw a &#8216;Next is the spirit of the Olympics&#8217; ad, I couldn&#8217;t help but remember <a href="http://www.brandculturetalk.com/2008/04/17/self-obsessed-brands/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">this wonderful article</a>. I quote from it &#8220;Modern branding has evolved. From its roots creating detailed guidelines for enforcing corporate logos it has become a sophisticated effort to define the compelling and differentiated value that an organization or product offers its customers. And it aspires to create experiences of that value across all interactions. It goes beyond design, messaging, websites and advertising. It touches product development, recruiting, customer service, sales, and it drives and emanates from the very core of every business: culture. That’s where these campaigns miss the mark. They tell me who they are, but not why I should care. They provide an introduction, but can’t sustain the conversation. And I don’t have much attention for brands without substance.&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">I&#8217;d have been less acerbic, if I&#8217;d seen at least a semblance of involving users in this entire positioning exercise. A developer&#8217;s community which takes feedback from users on what they want to see in the next samsung mobile model, updating consumers on what they are <a href="http://in.samsungmobile.com/products/phoneSearch.do?kind=upcoming" target="_blank" rel="noopener">working on</a>, building some interest around it, and so on. To be fair, they have done <a href="http://in.samsungmobile.com/index.jsp" target="_blank" rel="noopener">something</a>, though the community link took me <a href="http://www.uberme.com/Site/Default2.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">here</a>. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f610.png" alt="😐" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Tell you what, here&#8217;s a free idea, go ahead and sponsor the second season of <a href="http://www.campaignindia.in/news/colors_gets_shilpa_to_host_big_boss" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bigg Boss</a>. The last season, I always used to wonder, &#8216;next is what?&#8217; !!!</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Which takes me to another premise, I thought a slightly more interesting one. If brands were really gutsy, they would do some product placement in Bigg Boss. From paste, soaps and shampoo, washing soaps to Real Good chicken, tea and coffee brands, apparel brands, exercise equipment, Veneta Cucine kitchens,  every damn thing that we use in daily life could find its way there (of course keeping in mind the rules of the show, so no TV, mobile etc) Yes. MDH Masala too!! In fact, the contestants shouldn&#8217;t be told in advance what the brands are, so no rigging. Have competing brands also. Yummy!! What you get is a real chance of &#8216;celebrity&#8217; endorsement. Imagine Rakhi Sawant saying &#8216;Tide makes washing so easy that I wish I&#8217;d more clothes&#8217;. Ok, cheesy, but you get the idea <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">But that requires absolute faith in the product, and having the maturity to accept criticism and ensure you never make the mistake again. We still have a long way to go before brands can handle reality television, or reality.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:justify;">The last few weeks have seen a flurry of activity in the nascent Indian &#8216;celebrity blogger&#8217; space. Most of the action has been around Aamir Khan, and his newly discovered penchant for ruffling feathers. Whether its the name of his dog or his lyrics which was supposedly making fun of Salmaan, his blog is almost a tabloid these days.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">I saw some branding at a mall last weekend that reminded me of AK being the <a href="http://www.samsung.com/in/news/newsRead.do?news_group=productnews&amp;news_type=consumerproduct&amp;news_ctgry=mobilephone&amp;news_seq=7088" target="_blank" rel="noopener">brand ambassador</a> for Samsung. The brand says, &#8221; &#8220;The SAMSUNG brand stands for qualities of innovation, change, discovery,  self-expression and excellence in performance. And these very same qualities are  epitomised by Aamir Khan, whose quality and depth of work as well as versatility  as an actor, have made him a much loved and respected actor in India today. We  are indeed very proud and privileged to have him as our Brand Ambassador&#8221;.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">All that is fine, but after seeing <a href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/Panchvi_fail_and_other_Bollywood_blog_tales/rssarticleshow/3045134.cms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">this report</a> (via <a href="http://www.watblog.com/2008/05/16/amitabh-bachchan-paid-100-crore-to-blog-bitch-about-shahrukh-create-controversy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">this</a>) and the claim that Amitabh has a 100 cr deal that includes sniping at co-stars, I&#8217;ve begun to wonder about this Samsung- AK deal. Lets twist the brand fit &#8211; AK is a niche persona thats supposed to have an element of class. Look at the brands he has worked with &#8211; Toyota, Titan. Coke is the only mass brand. AK&#8217;s brand persona is (like most celebrities) derived from the kind of work they do. So, in that sense, would it be fair to ask Samsung whether they plan to release only one product a year, and its chances of success would be 50-50. The only reason I am asking is that the creative i saw has AK saying &#8216;I am Samsung Mobile&#8217;</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Given the low key profile that AK had in the past, with the media spike happening only around releases, Samsung, being a mass brand and playing in a visibility intense market that has the likes of Nokia and Samsung would&#8217;ve found it difficult to convince itself that AK&#8217;s regular media dose is sufficient. So, why not a deal that includes uncharacteristic swipes at colleagues, the kind that makes it to the front page of all newspapers, and keeps the brand ambassador in the news?</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p align="justify">India&#8217;s success story and the rapid rise of consumerism has resulted in a feast for anybody who comes close to being a popular person. No, I didn&#8217;t mean your favourite office peon, what i had in mind was actors, cricketers etc, and the has-beens in those categories too. I even saw Shatrughan Sinha endorsing some TV the other day. Complete with Khamosh and Big B baiting!! So what&#8217;s more important &#8211; brand or ambassador?</p>
<p align="justify">I&#8217;ve always wondered about endorsements and the value they add to the brand. I think there are some categories where rival brands have been used as some sort of proxy battleground for rival stars. Look at the cola battles &#8211; SRK and the B family are in the Pepsi camp, while Coke has Hrithik and Aamir. Wonder where Ash is though. She&#8217;s been on both sides. There&#8217;s also car manufacturers &#8211; Aamir for Toyota, SRK for Santro, and the Big and small B for Maruti Versa. The other interesting arena is handset manufacturers. I don&#8217;t know if you&#8217;ve noticed,  but there&#8217;s a neat battle brewing there now that Aamir has been roped in by Samsung, because with SRK pitching for Nokia, and Hrithik dancing to Sony Ericsson tunes, we&#8217;re over company phase and into crowd phase.</p>
<p align="justify">Like I said, I&#8217;ve always wondered about endorsements. I can understand the endorsements for sports brands by sports people and even John Abraham (reebok did a decent job in Goal too).  I can understand clothing brands and accessories being endorsed by filmstars. I can even understand the cola wars because everything is about an edge over competition. Besides its a commodity. Similar for Abhi B for Idea and SRK for Airtel. Hey, Hutch ne to kutte ko use kiya, phir bhi bik raha tha. What does that say about those two? <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f600.png" alt="😀" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> I&#8217;m on the borderline for Dhoni and Saif for Kurkure and Lays respectively. I thought &#8216;Whats the prograaam&#8217; did the trick for me and Juhi did a decent job with &#8216;Kya family hain&#8217;.</p>
<p align="justify">But what i really can&#8217;t understand is how Hrithik, Saif or SRK can do the trick for Acer, Lenovo and HP respectively. Isn&#8217;t that a product which is bought after much research and analysis on features? Will it sell just because it features a movie star? Don&#8217;t logic and rationale play a lot of role in the purchase decision? Is that a quality that the filmstars are famous for? Most importantly, these are also increasingly customised purchases, would you really consider a laptop just because Saif features in it (maybe because it recognizes faces, yes, but that could&#8217;ve been anybody&#8217;s face in the ad).  And honestly, i dont believe in that &#8216;getting the attention of the consumer&#8217; jazz. If the product is good, its reviews will say so, and will also say so if its not. Similarly for mobile handsets and even cars, though Toyota did a reasonably good job by matching Aamir&#8217;s traits with the car. Whatcha think?</p>
